Mentone Institute of Languages & Culture
Mentone Girls' Grammar School is a vibrant and diverse community. We therefore value an international aspect and being able to provide our students and the community access to global opportunities is important to us. Through the Mentone Institute of Languages & Culture, students from within and outside of Mentone Girls' Grammar School have the ability to study out-of-hours VCE languages and an array of cultural activities.
Mentone Girls' Grammar School is currently offering out-of-hours classes for students of VCE Chinese as a First or Second Language.
Depending on demand, from 2008, we will also be able to offer VCE classes in eleven other languages including: Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, French, Italian, Turkish, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, German and Hindi.
These classes will be established to respond to the needs of students, both boys and girls, who are unable to study these languages in their own school (government or non-government).
All classes are taught in our award-winning Cobbalanna Senior College by fully qualified teachers who are registered by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Times
Subject to demand, classes begin in February 2008 and take place on Fridays from 4.30-7.30pm at Mentone Girls' Grammar School. No classes will be held on Fridays which precede long weekends, mid-term breaks or vacations at the School.
Curriculum
The educational program follows the VCE Study Design of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). Assessment will be School-assessed Coursework (SACs), and external assessment by oral and written examinations as those required by VCAA.
Cost
The cost of tuition is $475.00 per semester, payable to Mentone Girls' Grammar School, before access to the class. Additional classes will be formed subject to demand.
